Zacatecas 1868 25c. blue, thick figures, #13-71, in combination with 1872 12c.. blue, #51-72, on cover from Zacatecas to Durango, dated May 19, 1872, showing Zacatecas h.s. (Schatzkès #1854). An extremely rare and extraordinary 1868-1872 mixed franking including the then demonetized 25c. MEPSI certificate. Scott 61, 82.

Note: The 1872 issue was in circulation from April 1, 1872, so the sender must still have had the demonetized stamp in their possession, and the post office allowed its use since the new issue had only been available for a few weeks.
