1864 "Eagles" Issue
Puebla and Veracruz Group of 73 stamps, featuring ½r. to 8r. denominations from all five periods, including five covers and one cover front. The standout item is a striking 5 reales franking on a cover from Veracruz to Mexico, with fresh, vivid colors, bearing a 4r. (2nd Period, 152-1864) and a 1r. Ultramarine (1st Period). Overall in good condition, with most stamps retaining three to four full margins, representing a wide variety of consignments and several Puebla suboffices. Of note is a piece with two 2r. Yellow stamps handstamped in Tepeji de la Seda (Consignment 179-1864). Some duplication is present, with occasional small faults. Includes one MEPSI certificate. Scott 20-25, $1,250 as singles., , ,
