Durango 8r. Red, 2nd Period, consignment 156-1864, vertical quadrisect, on cover from San Juan del Río to Durango. The back of the cover has some minor areas of missing paper, but this is insignificant and does not affect the front; it is mentioned only for accuracy. A very rare item with an unusual cut of the split, further enhanced by the great freshness exhibited. Sold in 2004 for $9,500 + commission. MEPSI certificate. Scott 25f, $15,000.
