1856 Issue
Various Districts Duo of covers featuring the Extraordinario Rate, including one from Veracruz to Mexico City bearing 4r. Red with mostly good margins, tied by handstamp on dispatch and dated February 4, 1859, endorsed "Por Extraordinario del Tenessee." The second item is a June 2, 1858 entire letter franked with well-margined 4r. Red showing the frame line at left and 1r. Yellow (cut into at left), tied by a Mexico City cancel and endorsed "Por Extraordinario del Paquete Inglés." The Express rate was twice the regular single fee, making this 5 reales rate very unusual, as there was not a 2½ reales rate at that time. Scott 2, 4.
