Setting 2. Lines 2mm. Apart
20pf. ultramarine vertical strip of three, the lower stamp with the 3mm. spacing and the upper two stamps 2mm. spacing, pos. 9, Setting 1, and pos. 39/49, Setting 2, unused without gum. Extremely rare, only 6 unused pairs have ever been recorded. A block of 12 stamps containing pairs from the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th vertical rows was in the Bute collection. This block had no gum and was in poor condition. Two more pairs were contained in a mint vertical block of eight which was in the White collection. This block has now been reduced to two vertical strips of three. Holcombe Certificate (1990). Gibbs 17b; S.G. H17b, £9,000. Photo
Note: One of the sheets from the setting 1 printing of the 20pf. value did not receive the overprint on its upper half. It did receive an albino impression, however, so it apparently stuck to the sheet above it on the second run through. By the time this omission was discovered the setting had been altered. The top half of the sheet was then printed with setting 2B, which created 10 se-tenant vertical pairs across the middle of the sheet.
