(x) Venezuela
The Most Important Cover of Venezuelan Philately
1859-62, ½r. yellow, first fine printing, in combination with second coarse printing 1r. blue and 2r. red, three displaying a refulgent combination of colours which anecdotally match those of the Venezuelan flag, all being well margined and fresh, used on a folded letter written in Puerto Cabello on December 3, 1862, and sent to Bordeaux, all tied by neat strikes of blue "correos/dec 7/la guaira." c.d.s.'s, carried by British Packet via London, with "GB/1F60c" accountancy marking, charged with "16" h.s. indicating that the recipient had to pay 16 décimes (1.60 francs) for a double-weight letter, backstamped on arrival (Jan. 4). The only genuine first-issue three-colour franking recorded, and as such, considered the most important cover of Venezuelan philately. Meri Certificate (2020). Scott 1, 5, 6. Photo.

Note: There is a case we remember in which a letter, displaying all the stamps of the first issue, is considered not only the most important piece of the issue but also the most significant from the territory, similar to the letter from Verolanova with pentacolour franking from Lombardy-Venetia. Of course, this is an anecdotal comparison, taking into account the differences, as it pertains to a territory of different philatelic significance and with a piece from a contrasting philatelic tradition.
