1856-83 postal history selection (five envelopes, four pieces) including 1856 (8 Oct.) native envelope (165 x 43 mm) from Bandar Abbas to Bombay via Muscat with original letter inside the cover. It had been written on the back side of cover: “Hadji Ali’s manuscript via Muscat received 28 Safar 1273” equivalent to 28 October 1856. Pre stamp mails sent to, from or transiting Muscat are very rare, so far only fifteen recorded such usage; 1881 (17 Nov.) envelope from Muscat to Bombay franked on the reverse with ½a. blue tied by boxed “B” duplexes with MASKA´T c.d.s. with long “K”. Mixed condition, a scarce and desirable group.
