Military Campaigns
1839 Expeditionary Force
Kharq Island: 1839 (15 Aug.) large part entire from a sergeant in the Bombay Regiment to a family in Surrey informing them of the death of their son from illness in hospital, countersigned by a regimental captain; bearing a light strike of the circular "india letter/london/3" in black (special soldier's concession rate) and, on the reverse, boxed "india letter/liverpool"; somewhat creased and soiled and fractionally reduced at top. Very scarce and thought to be one of only five letters from this military campaign. Photo
