1849-50 Ceres Issue
1852 (15 July) envelope from Paris to Rhode Island, USA marked "per Steamer via Liverpool", franked for a total of 2.60 Fr. paying the correct double rate and bearing 10c. bistre horizontal pair, 40c. orange and 1fr. carmine vertical pair showing variety tête-bêche cancelled by 'grill without end' obliterator with adjacent neat despatch c.d.s and New York (29.7) c.d.s. Stamps with margins in places though of fresh colours, envelope clean and fine. A rare opportunity, one of just twelve 1fr. tête-bêche on cover and one of only three to the USA.
