1899 (Dec.) envelope from Colonel Vyvyan the Base Commander to his wife in London, bearing Cape 1d. tied by clear "crocodile pools/south africa" double-ring d.s. with another fine strike alongside, showing red London Paid c.d.s. (24.2.00) and large "T" h.s. deleted by two strikes of "A01" obliterator with, on reverse, Bulawayo transit c.d.s. (Jan. 00); the envelope with flap missing and some minor peripheral creases. Rare. Note: This cover was carried from Bulawayo via Beira, where it caught the "Formosa" to Cape Town, then by Union Castle Line's "Moor" to Southampton.
