1880 (5 Mar.) envelope from Abary to Newcastle on Tyne marked "Via Southampton", bearing 12c. pale violet tied by heavy quartered cork obliterator, showing "abary/b.g." c.d.s. (Type D3 with day of month inverted) alongside, Georgetown transit c.d.s. (5.3) with, on reverse, Plymouth and arrival (29.3) datestamps. The only known cover and the earliest recorded date of usage.
