1863 Engraved document appointing George W. Strong as Brigadier General of Volunteers, signed at the foot by the Secretary of War, Edward M. Stanton and by the 16th President "Abraham Lincoln". The ink slightly faded but all manuscript additions and signatures are clearly legible on an important and magnificently printed document (15x19 inches, folds)
