Ranjitsinhji, Maharajah of Nawanagar (1872-1933)
1914 Four page autograph letter signed using his Princely titles, written from Jamnagar on elaborate notepaper to "Mr Burbridge", the managing director of Harrods, London, regarding furnishings for his "new palace". The Harrods agent had visited and "We have already selected furniture for a few suite of rooms. I trust we may be able to place the whole order with you...will you kindly see that the articles of furniture and carpets selected are really good and strong and first in taste apart from the essential necessity...to stand this dry and sometimes trying climate".
Ranjitsinhji was renowned as one of the greatest cricket batsmen of all time. (Slight creasing to the right margins, but a lengthy and fascinating insight).
