1901 Royal Tour
1901 Autograph letter written and signed "Victoria Mary" by the Duchess of Cornwall and York, on mourning notepaper of the Royal Yacht H.M.S. Ophir headed "In the Indian Ocean between Aden & Ceylon". She writes to Major General Sir Francis de Winton, Comptroller to the Duke, describing the voyage "Grilling in the Indian Ocean. Our visits to Gibraltar, Malta, Port Said and Aden were most interesting. Alas I am a very bad sailor. Our cabins are really very nice and are comfortably fitted up...".
Letters written by members of the Royal Family while on Tour are uncommon.
