Wines & Co's California Express Paid (Haller FW15) with elaborate eagle, shield and ribbons design on 3c. red on buff entire (U10) addressed to Shasta, Cal. cancelled by Rhodes & Whitney's Express Weaverville blue oval d.s. leaving the indicia uncancelled. Insignificant edgewear including tiny tear at top just touching frank, still fresh, find and rare. This partnership company operated from 1856 to 1857 over the same lines as the earlier Rhodes-Lusk express.
