1860 (7 Aug.) envelope from Leavenworth City Kas. addressed to Farming Landing Mo., bearing 3c. dull red cancelled by despatch c.d.s. and showing The Central Overland California & Pikes Peak Express Company, Denver City K.T. and Hinkley & Co's Express Denver City c.d.s. pencil manuscript '35 paid'. Minor perf flaws and staining. Still with the original four pages letter dated 24 July at California Gulch from a miner describing his travel and activities including ...we travelled alone all the way although the Indians have been a little hostile.... A most fascinating piece of American history.
