1878-1901 selection (4) including 1878 (27 Nov.) and (4 Dec.) and 1879 (13 Jan.) envelopes from Liverpool ex the same correspondence to a RNR Captain on board the Melpomene at Rangoon, the first two bearing 6d. grey Pl. 16 and the other bearing 8d. orange, all tied by duplex with the first and last showing Sea Post Office transit datestamp on reverse; 1901 (Mar.) envelope from England to a soldier in The Buffs at Shwebo and redirected to Maymyo, bearing GB 1d. tied by Bewdly "68" duplex, showing hexagonal "t/10" h.s., circular "overland postage/due/a/2", oval-framed "mandalay/unpaid" d.s. (10.4; Type UP5, earliest recorded date) in green, similar for Maymyo (11.4; Type UP3, the only recorded example) in violet and on reverse, similar for Shwebo (6.4; Type UP2, the only recorded example), along with various transit and arrival datestamps; Mixed condition as expected' though a rare group.
