1876-78 postal history selection (9) including Akyab:1876 (29 Sept.) envelope (flap missing) to Paris, marked "Via Brindisi", bearing 1a. and 4a. tied by "akyab/r-2" duplex (Type KD8) and showing, on reverse, Calcutta and Sea Post Office transit datestamps; and 1877 (10 Oct.) envelope to London, marked "Via Brindisi", bearing 6a. with pen cross and similarly tied by duplex with Calcutta transit d.s. on reverse.
Mandalay: c.1878 envelope to Calcutta bearing, on reverse, ½a. Die II tied by "mandalay/r-6" d.s. (Type KD3) with arrival datestamps alongside; the face panel with some ink-etching. Described by Gerald Davis as one of the scarcest items of Burma postal history
Moulmein: 1876 (24 Feb.) envelope registered to Surat, bearing ½a. and 4a. tied by "moulmein/r-8" duplex (Type KD10; earliest recorded date) with Steamer Letter Calcutta, Bombay and arrival datestamps alongside and showing, on face, very fine Type R4 registration d.s. (earliest recorded date)
Thayetmyo: 1877 (6 Aug.) mourning envelope (peripheral faults) to London, bearing 6a. tied by "thyetmyo/r-15" duplex (Type KD6; earliest recorded date); 1878 (2 Sept.) envelope (light central vertical fold and a little soiled) to London, marked "Via Brindisi", bearing 6a. tied by poor "thyetmyo/r-15" duplex (Type KD6; latest recorded date); 1878 envelope (vertical tear through face panel) to Dorset re-addressed to Reading, bearing 6a. clearly tied by "thyetmyo/r-15" duplex partly obscured by GB 1d. applied upon redirection; and 1879 envelope to Bombay, bearing ½a. tied by large part "thyetmyo/r-15" duplex
Tounghoo: 1878 (25 Mar.) envelope registered to Glasgow and redirected to Dunkeld, marked "Via Brindisi", bearing 4a. and 6a. (2) tied by "tounghoo/r-16" duplex, showing Registered London oval transit d.s. and, on reverse, registration h.s. (unlisted type) and rare Crowned "glasgow sorting tender/registered" oval d.s. (Wilson 750, rated "R"). Usual mixed condition, a good lot for the student of the subject.
