FE-FI, horizontal strip of five and FJ-FK horizontal pair applied over FI in the strip of five, tied by red Maltese Crosses to 1840 (24 Nov.) entire letter from Milnthorpe to Dijon, France; the face endorsed "Paid to Dover" with "Newton/Penny Post" handstamp in black on despatch with Calais 27.11 d.s. in red, additionally tying the pair and manuscript charge "18" (décimes) additionally tying the strip of five; the reverse with Milnthorpe town 24.11 d.s., London transit 25.11 in red, Calais 27.11 in blue and Dijon 29.11 in black with additional boxed "no.1". Letter sheet with minor foxing, expertly rejoined or reinforced along certain folds with vertical filing fold affecting only FG, part contents not present though a truly remarkable usage of great significance.
