George I (1714-1727), 'South Sea Company' Shilling, 1723, first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, SS C angles, five strings to harp, no colon between A TH, edge obliquely milled, 5.90g, 5h (ESC 1176; Bull 1586, five strings not noted; S.3647), light cabinet tone overlying fresh mint fields, truly choice FDC, a remarkable survivor, even for this commonly-encountered type
