The difference between list price and sale price is rather confusing, but may reflect either the late addition of a separate collection as noted by the appendixed Crowns (P.1883, nos. 33405-33406), or just perhaps the feverish intrigue gripping the numismatic market in anticipation of the Third Portion of the Hyman Montagu sale on 13 November 1896 wherein his lot 970 containing a similar piece sold as part of a group for £2.12.0 to dealer William Charles Weight.
