James II (1685-1688), Halfcrown, 1688 QVARTO, second laureate and drape bust left, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, seven strings to harp, downwards lettered edge, 14.79g, 6h (ESC 502; Bull 759; S.3409), planchet nick at 9 o'clock probably the result of Royal Mint regulations, lightly flecked with a tiny scratch on cheek, otherwise lustrous and attractively cabinet toned, near extremely fine, surprisingly rare thus
