Charles I (1625-1649), Group B, Type 1a2, Sixpence, 1630, Tower (under King), (m.m.) • CAROLVS • D .' G .' MA .' BR .' FR .' ET • HI : REX • second crowned and armoured bust left, wearing ruff, VI behind, rev. (m.m.) • CHRISTO • AVSPICE • REGNO • square-topped shield, 1630 above, bird-headed harp with lys atop shoulder, 3.061g, 10h, m.m. plume (Hawkins -; Brooker 590A; Durlacher 254 = Bearman = JM Ashby 2290 same dies; North 2237; S.2808), the portrait slightly doubled in striking, otherwise uniformly cabinet toned, with underlying lustre, a most pleasing very fine, extremely rare, especially in this attractive state and unknown to Hawkins, and only scarcely so at time of Fuller's purchase
