Elizabeth I (1558-1603), Sixth Issue, Sixpence, 1590, Tower, (m.m.) ELIZAB .' D .' G .' ANG .' FR .' ET • HIB .' REGI .' beaded inner circles, larger crowned and draped bust 6C left, large rose with stamen filaments behind, rev. (m.m.) POSVI DEV .' AD-IVTORE-M • MEV .' beaded inner circles, square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, small 15-90 above shield, 3.013g, 7h, m.m. hand (BCW HA-2/HA-b; North 2015; S.2578B), a minute trace of metal stressing before chin and doubling to legends, otherwise a handsomely uniform and bold striking on a full flan, pleasantly cabinet toned, good very fine, rare in this state, especially when the details of knuckles are so clear on the pyx-mark!
