Henry VIII (1509-1547), Third Coinage, Groat, 1544-1547, Bristol Castle, (Under-Treasurer, William Sharrington), crowned bust three-quarters facing right, rev. CIVITAS BRISTOLIE, rose after TAS, saltire before BRIS, square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, trefoils in forks, 1.940g, 3h, i.m. WS [on reverse only] (Hawkins unlisted; North 1846; S.2372), slight raggedness to edge, otherwise lightly cabinet toned with staining to shield but much underlying lustre, approaching very fine, scarce thus
