Edward III (1327-1377), Fifth Coinage, Treaty Period, Groat, 1361-1369, London, French titles suspended, legend ends AQT, crowned bust facing, rev. CIVITAS LONDON, broken L serif, reverse-barred Ns, long cross and trio or pellets in angles, 4.343g, 8h [to i.m.] (North 1251; S.1616), a historic scuff across portrait and slightly short of flan, the reverse rather porous and unsightly, otherwise the portrait attractively bold and accentuated by vibrant cabinet tone, struck details very fine or bolder for type
