Henry II (1154-1189), 'Tealby' Penny, 1158 - c. 1163, Class A2, Winchester, Herbert, + hENRI REX ANGL, crowned bust three-quarters left, no hair or collar, mantle falls from chin, cross pattée-tipped sceptre in left field, rev. + hERBER[T ON] WINC• short cross potent, cross pattées in angles, 1.416g [21.852grns], 9h (Hocking 337 same dies [Royal Mint]; FEJ 1184b same dies; Winchester Mint 2366, dies Cc [5 Listed]; North 952.2; BMC 757-758 same dies [Tealby and Lark Hill]; S.1337), slightly die-capped with peripheral striking softness, otherwise cabinet toned, a pleasing very fine, and die-matched to two famous Tealby hoards of the 19th Century
