Postal History
1587 (11 October) letter addressed to Filippo Corsini in London from Guglielmo Petala, writing "I wrote to you last Saturday from Poole, of what has happened about the ship The Farewell. I hope she has gone to Fowey, being ready to sail when I left." with mentioned of the shipping of barrels, or 'hogsetti' or sardines and tin. "I have spoken to the pilot, who at once began asking for money for sails, biscuit and other provisions for the ship, so that it seems to me that Mr. Fursland has been putting them off until my arrival, and that we shall have to help them so as not to lose time in putting to sea. The captain has gone to Fowey t see some friends, and have not yet seen M. Duport, and think that when we are together they will not have to refuse to go to Marseille. I believe that Cotels also has a ship going to Naples, and it seems to me that there is another at Dartmouth". Fine and scarce.
