1851 (30 Sep.) entire from Paris addressed to Veracruz, Mexico marked Via Southampton franked for a total of 13.50 Fr. paying the correct nine times rate for mails between 60g. and 67.5g and bearing 25c. blue pair and 1fr. carmine (13) comprising two horizontal strips of three and a horizontal strip of seven showing variety Tête-bêche on the fifth stamp cancelled by 'grill without end' obliterator and with adjacent neat despatch and London transit (1.10) c.d.s., few expected faults including creasing not detracting from the overall appearance, an incredible nine times rate and just one of twelve 1fr. Mails to Mexico were franked until the port of disembarkation at 1.50Fr. per 7.5g (price of the English route and English liners for overseas countries) without distinction of location. The recipient were due to pay a variable tax depending on weight and distance.
