1866 (9 July) entire from Rio de Janeiro addressed to Marseille, France bearing 1866 100r. green and 500r. orange cancelled by cork handstamp, on the front showing ang. amb calais (8.8) c.d.s., charged 10 (decimes) and gb/1f 60c. The reverse with despatch, London (3.8), Paris (4.8) and Lyon (5.8) c.d.s. Usual minor imperfections otherwise fine and a very rare early usage. RHM 27, 29. Photo

The Dom Pedro stamps were issued on the 1st July. The earliest recorded usage on letter (50r. pair) is (5.7). This entire (9.7) is possible the earliest 100r. + 500r. combination to an overseas destination.
