William II 'Rufus' (1087-1100), 'Cross Fleury and Piles' Type, Penny, 1098-1100?, Canterbury, Winedæg, + PILLELM RE, crowned and draped bust facing, holding sceptre in right hand, star to right, rev. + PINEDI ON CNTLI, cross fleury with a pile surmounted by a pellet in each angle, 1.162g [17.96gns] (SCBI 12 [Ashmolean], 208; BMC 5; North 856; S.1262), lightly scratched across the bust and softness in parts, otherwise with a pleasing tone to depths of fields, nearing very fine and scarce
