The L'Abbaye Collection: Part Two | George I (1714-1727), 'Roses and Plumes' Shilling, 1716, GEORGIVS • D ' G • M • BR • FR • ET • HIB • REX • F • D • first laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. 16 • BRVN ET • L • DVX S • R • I • A : TH • ET • EL • 17, large D in DVX, crowned shields cruciform, nine strings to harp, six hearts to semée, roses and plumes in angles, edge obliquely milled, 6h (Pywell-Phillips 268; ESC 1163 [R3]; Bull 1562 [R3] ~ albeit nine strings not noted; S.3645), a hint of rub to hair, otherwise handsomely and darkly cabinet toned with flares of lustrous and colourful iridescence in recesses, a pleasingly good very fine, very rare
