The L'Abbaye Collection: Part Two | James II (1685-1688), Shilling, 1687 over 6, IACOBVS • II • - DEI • GRATIA, laureate and draped bust right, no stop before DEI, rev. crowned shields cruciform, four strings to harp, angles plain, edge obliquely milled, 6h (Pywell-Phillips 128; Bull 769; ESC 1072A; S.3410), a hint of adjustment to Garter star and a tiny historic scratch on cheek, some minor die degradation in legends and carbon spotting in shields, otherwise a sumptuously cabinet toned specimen, with iridescent flare in recesses, a really pleasingly good very fine, scarce in this exemplary state
