Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), 'Sovereign / Eagles' Type, Penny, 1056-1059, York, Ulfketill, EADPRD X ANGLOR•, King enthroned looking left, orb with cross in left hand, sceptre in right, rev. + VLFCIL ON EOFRPIC•, voided short cross with eagle (martlet) in each angle within inner circle, annulets in two of the angles, 1.30g [20.18grns], 9h (Hildebrand Type H; SCBI 21 [Yorkshire], cf. 388-389; North 827; BMC IX; S.1181), obverse largely blundered through heavier striking but just decipherable, reverse much better with rich blue toning, near very fine
