NGC VF ~ Fine Style | Sicily, Messana, AR Tetradrachm, 412-408 BC, the nymph Messana driving biga of mules left, wearing long chiton and holding reins in both hands, Nike flying above right to crown her with a wreath, two dolphins facing one another in exergue, rev. MES-S-A-NIO-N, hare running right, head of Pan right below, 16.91g (Caltabiano 604 (D217/R236); SNG ANS 369 (same dies)), cleaned, with some softened details, nevertheless well-centred and good fine to near very fine, in an NGC 'Ancients' holder, graded Very Fine ~ Fine Style (Strike: 5/5, Surface: 4/5) [NGC Cert. #8221846-010]
