(g) George III (1760-1820), 'Garter' Half-Guinea, 1813, seventh laureate head right, rev. crowned shield in Garter, edge obliquely milled, 4.18g, 12h (MCE 448; EGC I, 859; Selig 1065-1066; Stratos 50; Spink 3737), a notoriously 'soft' issue, with highly superficial marks in otherwise playfully lustrous fields, the devices boldly struck, a discerner's handsome cabinet piece thus, a pleasing extremely fine, and a fine complement to the ever-popular 'Military Guinea' of this date, unencapsulated, with NGC Certificate, graded MS63+ (Cert. #4345301-002)
