George III (1760-1820), 'Spade' Guinea, 1799, fifth laureate head right, rev. crowned 'Spade' shield, seven strings to harp, chevron milled edge, 8.37g, 12h (MCE 403; Selig 1035; Farey 1380; EGC 736; Spink 3729), a handful of contact marks, otherwise lustrous, a pleasingly bold extremely fine, the key date, and seldom-offered last year of issue for the iconic 'Spade' type.
