George III (1760-1820), Guinea, 1761, by Richard Yeo, first laureate head right, two leaves at top of wreath, no stop and narrow space after GRATIA, rev. crowned garnished shield, seven strings to harp, six hearts to Hanoverian shield, edge chevron milled, 8.34g, 6h (MCE 367; Farey 1020; EGC I, 670 [R3]; Selig - [cf. 1001 for date]; Spink 3725), some smoothing in obverse fields to disguise historic scratches behind head since last auctioned and a nick by R of GEORGIVS, otherwise evenly circulated and lightly toned, accentuations of lustrous flare in legends, a really good fine to almost very fine for issue, a pleasing and very rare date, the variety unknown to Selig
