George II (1727-1760), 'Old Head' Shilling, 1743, older laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left, rev. crowned shields cruciform, seven strings to harp, roses in angles, edge obliquely milled, 5.98g, 6h (ESC 1203; Bull 1720; Spink 3702), light rub to hair curls and a trace of flecking to cheek, otherwise attractive darker cabinet tone overlying lustrous original fields, a really good very fine to approaching extremely fine
