(x) The 1944 C.B.E. group of six awarded to Brigadier C. P. R. Johnston, Seaforth Highlanders and Staff, who earned 'mentions' during the Second World War and in post-War Palestine

Charles Percy Ronald Johnston was born in 1901 and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant into the Seaforth Highlanders in August 1921. He earned the O.B.E. for the early campaigns of the Second World War and was then promoted to the C.B.E. for the Italy campaign. From August 1943 Johnston served as Senior Officer, Logistical Plans Section in the Q (Army Equipment) Branch.
Remaining on the Staff, Johnston saw further active service in Palestine post-War and was retired Brigadier in June 1959. He became Secretary of the Army Benevolent Fund when General Sir James Steele was its President. The Brigadier lived at Woodruffe House, Worplesdon Hill, Surrey and died in 1979; sold together with his cloth rank insignia and cap Badge.
