The well-documented and very complete campaign group of four awarded to Lance-Sergeant M. McLean, Seaforth Highlanders, who died of wounds on 21 June 1915

Highrs); Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque (Murdo McLean), sold together with a Burgh of Prestwick, circular struck medal, silver, reverse engraved, '1914 Sgt M. Mclean S.H. 1919', mounted in an attractive wooden display case, good very fine (4)

Murdo McLean was born in Glasgow on 17 March 1892, the son of Alexander and Margaret McLean of 100 West Street, Glasgow. The family moved to Kirkwall, Orkney when McLean was very young and he enlisted in Glasgow, being present at the Regimental Depot at Fort George in 1910. The Regiment was stationed in India prior to the outbreak of the war and McLean entered the war with the 7th (Meerut) Division on 12 October 1914.

They were present for the Battle of Festubert in May 1915 they were in the line at La Coutre, South of Lille in June 1915 where they spent the month under sporadic bombardment from German artillery and mortars. Mclean died that month on 21 June, he was buried at Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, at the time of his death his father was living in Glasgow, Mclean was predeceased by his mother; sold together with copied research and an archive of original material comprising:

Memorial Scroll with its original forwarding slip.

A Seaforth Highlander's Glengarry Cap.

iii)
A Christmas Card dated to 1910.

iv)
Two short notes to his family dated 1915.

v)
Unnamed Condolence slip.
