British North Borneo Company Medal 1888-1916, silver issue, 1 clasp, Punitive Expedition, unnamed as issued, good very fine

British Battles & Medals refers:

'The Medal & clasp was given for a small expedition against Mat Saleh conducted by Mr Hewett, the Resident of Labuan, together with a small number of Police Officers, the 38th Sikh Regiment, some Sugat Policement and a 7-pounder gun. The main action took place, December 1897, though there had been two smaller clashes in July and August.

Spink records list 24 impressed named silver Medals supplied in 1905; a further 10 unnamed silver Medals were supplied in 1906 and another 12 in 1909.'
