Zanzibar, Sultanate, Order of the Brilliant Star, Officers' Fourth Class breast Badge, with rosette upon riband, silver-gilt and enamel, 46mm x 74mm including wreath suspension, in its original fitted red leather presentation case by Elkington & Co. Ltd., Court Jewellers, 22 Regent St. S.W., one or two very minor cracks to enamel, some gilding loss, otherwise good very fine

Sold together with an original black-and-white photograph of several men in Colonial Officer-style white tropical uniform, the reverse written in ink:

'H.E. speaking to Bobby at the Sultan's Jubilee...Pemba. At left Saunders-Jones. P.S. The Sultan and Mrs. Jones in the middle.'
David Willoughby Saunders-Jones is noted as being awarded the Order of the Brilliant Star, Fourth Class, as Administrative Officer, Zanzibar, in 1937 (London Gazette, 20 April 1937, refers).
