Cyril Haisell was born at Lydd, Kent on 13 February 1903 and was a stable hand by trade when he joined the Royal Navy on 29 June 1918. He earned his L.S. & G.C. Medal in February 1936 and during the Second World War served initially at Eaglet and thence President 3, although for duties on 'Convoys'. He went up to Buckingham Palace to get his D.S.M. on 29 September 1942 and was pensioned on 13 February 1942. Haisell was released in January 1946 and died at Folkestone in 1970.
