Charles Turner was born at Merton, Surrey in 1805. He received his Diploma from the Veterinary College on 6 February 1827 and was recommended to the Honourable Court of Directors of the East India Company as a Veterinary Surgeon for the Service in India by Professor E. Coleman. Joining the 9th Regiment Light Bengal Cavalry at Cawnpore on 31 August 1827 he served with the 3rd Brigade Heavy Artillery from 21 February 1848. Turner joined the Remount Depot in 1850 and retired in 1855; sold together with photocopies of letters from Professor Coleman and Baptism certificate.
