Waterloo 1815 (John Godon, 15th or King's Reg. Hussars.), fitted with contemporary replacement steel clip and ring suspension, light contact marks, otherwise very fine

Provenance:
Glendining's, January 1911.

John Godon was a member of the 15th Hussars, who participated in a charge at the Battle of Waterloo on 18 June 1815. The charge is recorded by Richard Cannon in his Historical Record of The Fifteenth, or the King's Regiment of Light Dragoons, Hussars:

'as the Fifteenth were moving to their right to cross a ravine, a large body of Cuirassiers and other Cavalry were seen carrying all before them on the open ground between Hugomont and La Haye Sainte, and their Lancers were shouting in triumph. The brigade instantly moved towards its former post, and the Thirteenth and Fifteenth charged and drove back the Cuirassiers, with the most distinguished gallantry'.

Godon is confirmed upon the roll with entitlement to this medal.
