A condolence letter from the Prince of Wales (later H.M. King Edward VIII)
Letter, on St James's Palace letter paper, headed 'E', typed and signed in ink, dated 22 December 1929, very fine, with its outer envelope
Letter states:
'Dear Mrs Jones-Williams
As I had the privilege of knowing your son and having flown with hi in the Fairey Monoplane only three weeks before he and Jenkins started on their last flight, I ask you to accept my most sincere sympathy.
That so gallant, so patriotic, and so sporting an effort should have been so ill rewarded is indeed a tragedy. Your son is not only mourned by the Service in which he had so distinguished a career; he is mourned by the whole Nation.
In the hope that this thought may be of some slight consolation to you in your sorrow, believe me, Yours sincerely,
Edward P.'
