A superb '1936' Kaiser-i-Hind Medal group of three awarded to Lady A. A. P. Griffith, who was awarded the medal for Public Services
Kaisar-I-Hind, G.V.R., 1st class, gold, with integral top suspension brooch bar, in its H.M. Mint Calcutta case of issue; Jubilee 1935; Coronation 1937; the case of issue with its lid removed, nearly extremely fine (3)
kaiser-i-hind London Gazette 1 January 1936, the original citation states:
'... for Public Services in India.'
Alice Agnes Pauline Griffith (nee Westlake) was born in India in 1885, the daughter of Colonel Almond Paul Westlake. She married Ralph Edwin Hotchkin Griffith, at Poone, Bombay on 8 December 1910 and became Lady Griffith upon his elevation to Knight Commander of the Order of the Star of India. Present for his tenure as Governor of the North West Frontier Province she was heavily involved in public works in one of the most deprived and turbulent parts of the country. Returning to Britain with her husband after his retirement Griffith died in Devon on 8 June 1968.
