British Caribbean Territories, 20 Dollars, 2nd January 1962, serial number D2-738542,
the British Caribbean Territories Eastern Group, in existence from 1955 to 1964, was a collection of British-administered Caribbean territories situated to the east of the Caribbean Sea. It was governed by the Eastern Caribbean Currency Authority, which assumed responsibility for the issuance of currency and the management of monetary policies across its member territories.
During this period, the majority of these member territories were either colonial possessions or associated states under the authority of the United Kingdom. Consequently, the banknotes circulating within these territories bore the portrait of the reigning British monarch. Notably, the banknotes in circulation between 1953 and 1964 marked a transition; they were the first to feature the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and witnessed a change in the serial number format from fractional to a combination of letters and numbers.
The obverse face of this note presents a map of the Caribbean Sea on a scroll, complemented by the presence of palm trees and a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. On the reverse side, two dolphins herald an illustration of two horses drawing the queen from the sea, along four coats of arms, one of which is topped with a crowned pineapple. The detailing on the reverse design is both interesting and intricate; a gem for any collector
