(x) Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, 10 Riyals, Haj Pilgrim receipt issue, ND (1953), serial number D/147925, this banknote's interesting design combines various elements. Interweaving symbols of nature and power (palm trees and crossed swords) dominate the obverse together with a coat of arms. The reverse features a text panel in five languages, representing the multicultural movement within Saudi Arabia at the time. Originally intended for pilgrims, these banknotes served as traveller's checks or 'pilgrim receipts.' This was a response to the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency's ban on issuing paper currency.

The 1950s were a transformative period for Saudi Arabia, marked by widespread social and industrial modernisation. Simultaneously, the country played a significant role in regional politics during this era. However, Saudi Arabia remained deeply rooted in tradition and faith. These contrasting themes are beautifully woven together through the traditional and modern imagery featured on all Haj Pilgrim issue banknotes
